Volunteer

We are Peaceful Village Raw Vegan Healing Community seeking only serious volunteers preferably with knowledge and experience in building construction and forestry/gardening. We also welcome volunteers with little to no experience as well. The land was raw and undeveloped, but since living here from the end of 2022, we have planted many fruit trees and other plants, so we can eventually become fully self-sustainable.

Comfortable accommodations such as a bed and all bedding items, and a very breathable 1 to 2-person tent are provided. Transportation is not included. Everyone pays for their own bus rides, and taxis into town are shared between people who use the service. Our land is very pristine, away from any cell towers, and currently with no electricity or wifi radiation. We have three beautiful drinkable and swimmable rivers and some streams, with cascades and waterfalls, We also catch pristine rainwater which is drinkable. Some people may call this primitive living, but this is our beautiful home, without the distractions of entertainment from towns and cities. We will eventually have electricity and internet in the future.

As this is a raw vegan community, we eat raw vegan in the communal areas, nothing cooked or burnt, or from nonhuman animals (flesh of animals/meat, dairy, eggs, honey, or animal ingredients in products) as this is contrary to our core values. In the future, when electricity is fully installed in a part of the community area, the ability to dehydrate food will be available. However, for those who cannot eat completely raw vegan, we can accommodate them with cooked vegan meals in private areas.

We need honest work from people, but we don’t work anyone hard. We are not here to babysit anyone or be pushy. We need independent-minded people with ingenuity and vision who have basic managerial skills.

Note: Upon arrival, everyone gives a security deposit of $80 (which is returnable at the end of their stay, minus any breakages or community items lost) to Peacful Village. There are certain exceptions to this. At Peaceful Village we keep all the facilities and areas in the best conditions possible for future people to be able to enjoy them. All of us staying temporarily or are living here, do our best to keep the areas we use tidy and clean, as we respect the property and things of Peaceful Village. It is our responsibility to do what is right if we damage a property item of the community. This also applies not only to physical material items but also to how we treat and see other humans here, as is explained in our core values.

Because we are a semi-private community, Please use a secure and private email such as protonmail.com, or we may not respond to your email.

What others are saying about us

Greetings Jungle Warriors 😊 I’ve been lending a hand at Peaceful Village for a little over 3 months, and wanted to share some of my experience with anyone who is considering making a visit. This place isn’t for everyone, but for the right people it will be something very unique and special.

First, being a true nature-lover is a must. You will be out in the jungle with almost no semblance of city life. The land is very beautiful with lots of rain forest flora, wildlife, and rivers, the accommodations are comfortable, it’s super chill and relaxing, and the biting insects are usually very minimal.

Helping out has more of a community feel, sometimes we just do whatever we can to help improve the project and sometimes there are specific projects to be done. So far I’ve helped create some stairs on a hill, dig holes and create areas to plant trees, build a trellis, maintain some of the fruit trees, cut logs on a trail, and a few more odds and ends just to give you an idea of the variety. While we do work and get things done, there isn’t really a set work schedule. We all just help out and enjoy our time there as we see fit.

I have to say that Mike and Aurora are really wonderful people. They create a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere and are very thankful for the work and the presence of others. We have a lot of very interesting conversations about many topics, and there’s always a maintenance of respect even if we don’t agree on everything.

They have a very strong set of values based on veganism, freedom, love for nature, and self-sustainability. Mike is a happy-go-lucky guy with a fun sense of humor, Aurora is a very wise soul with a lot of beautiful perspectives on life, and they both have some very interesting thoughts and stories to share.

The facilities are simple but ample and comfortable, it’s a great experience in minimalistic nature-based living where the earth, trees, fresh air, and stars are the amenities. The nearby town has a nice market with some interesting exotic fruits and you can find most basic things you need there. There are a few buses in the morning and the afternoon to and from town, and there isn’t a lot of traffic on the road but if you see people many are willing to give you a ride.

So if you’re interested in an experience living freely in a peaceful place surrounded by nature and kind-hearted people, where you can help create a sustainable community without harming animals, then I would definitely recommend checking it out. If you have any questions or would like some more insight feel free to ask Mike and Aurora how to reach me 😊

I loved the openness which I was welcomed in this place. They received me warmly, very friendly and generous, giving me some fruits and a comfortable tent to sleep. As a volunteer, I helped a little bit in the forestry digging some holes, pulling out some grass and bringing some sand. I had a lot of free time for me to enjoy, so I could read my books, write my stuff and rest. I loved my daily baths in their amazing river, the group meditations and the water fasting along with a vow of silence under full moon. They are working hard in their healings and improving their skills for a non-violent communication approach. Aurora gave me delicious raw vegan meals for my nourishment and Michael shared his information and experience with plants growing here in the jungle soil. I see the potential of a beautiful community with strong values and good heart. I don’t want to forget that I loved the nudity lifestyle and how free I felt. Nudity is so natural here. Thanks.

I have to start by giving thanks for the unique opportunity to learn to share as best as possible. I found the place really cute and it started only a few months ago. I loved the small things like the water collector from the rain, the amount of peppers and diversity of fruits, simple things that fullfilled. 🙂

The surroundings are also unique, beautiful waterfall and pristine nature indeed. Thank you lovely beings. ❤️

I arrived at Peaceful Village as a short-term volunteer; while I was in a tough period of my life with a lot of emotional pain. With my mind playing hard on me, I needed understanding and a place where I could relax and be more at peace. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be in such a place where I could be more comfortable. I enjoyed the ritual that they have about fasting and silence vows every new and full moon, giving me a lot of awareness about my agitated mind and connection with the moon. On the first day, Aurora welcomed me with a delicious vegan meal. I also enjoyed her tea ceremony with some dessert with a homemade Strawberry sauce and Bananas from their land. Michael gave me to try different Amazonian fruits that I don’t remember their names, but I appreciate the experience. As a volunteer, I gave my best to contribute to their project, planting Pineapples, digging a hole to plant a tree, bringing some sand from the river to plant a Coconut and pulling out some weeds. Usually, in the afternoons, I had my free time to be myself or to have some talks with them. It’s a very safe place for a single woman traveller like me, where I had respect, as a spiritual being. I left earlier than expected but in gratitude for the exchange and wishing them the best for their community.

Create a 2D and 3D plans of the Peaceful Village community, including the gardens and orchards, paths, community buildings, and community members houses, through some type of CAD program. Preferably have a camera drone.

Our goal is to eventually build naturally using alternative materials and building methods, such as cob, adobe, bamboo, rammed Earth, and stone, and also with recycled and upcycled materials, but we don’t have the experience yet to do so, so we are looking for people who do have the knowledge and experience to help with this. At the moment, we are still building using nails, screws, and wood for building and relying on towns and cities for buying the materials. Carpentry skills are also needed to build high-quality furniture, like bedding, closets clothes racks, tables, chairs, etc.

Have knowledge and experience with vegan organic agriculture (aka veganic) in the tropical jungle. Nonhumahn manure, bloodmeal, bonemeal, feathermeal, etc., are not used here, as well as no domestication of animals is permitted on the land. Instead, we use our vegan food scrapes, humanure, and urine on the plants and soil. Learn more about veganic agriculture here. We welcome everyone and teach people who have little to no experience.

Natural fencing for our community grown from shrubs or bushes or other natural materials.

Inquiring and installing electricity from solar, wind, and other forms of alternative energy. Water hookup from our rivers and from rain.

Building paths and small roads inside the community.

We get much of the natural building materials off the land, but also utilize anything used or whatever garbage we find that can be used as plant containers, plant labels or for bottle bricks. We preserve Nature by not cutting old-growth (native trees) or other sacred plants, and reforest with fruit trees wherever and whenever we cut trees.

We are looking for one or more people for long-term, permanently to help with IT work. Ability to proficiently work with Linux Debian/Ubuntu operating systems. You must also have experience with setting up PA systems and video recordings for online live and in person events.

Optional: We may need a handy person who has the experience and skills to fix cellular phones, computers, blenders, juicers, and other items.

We need general volunteers who are somewhat physically fit and strong, to clear the land of weeds (including grass), and haul bags of pebbles, sand, water, and sawdust to our land, as well as other odd tasks.

Though not necessary, basic to intermediate Spanish communication would be beneficial.

What do you receive in exchange for volunteering?

Accommodations in the Amazonian jungle on our beautiful mountain land. You can swim and take natural baths in our pristine rivers and nature hikes on the mountains to watch a variety of naturally free-roaming “wild” animals, ancestral trees, and other plants. There are a lot to do, see, and experience around the Loreto-Orellana area, such as exploring waterfalls, breathtaking views, experiencing indigenous cultures, caves, national parks, and other attractions around.

If you are seriously interested to visit the Amazonian tropical jungles of Northern Ecuador and to assist us in creating our healing community and vision, and have the knowledge and skills above, fill out the form below.

When filling out this volunteer application, please be as open and honest as possible and add in as much detail as you can. This form will take some time to complete.
